Long Ashton Triumph in Fear Plate Final

Ashcombe Park, Saturday 12th September

Long Ashton Bowling Club are celebrating after a remarkable victory in the Fear Plate final, played in glorious sunshine at Ashcombe Park.

Having already seen off strong competition from Clevedon and Somerton in the earlier rounds, Long Ashton earned their place in the final against a talented Minehead side.

The match proved to be a showcase of skill and determination. Skipped by Liz Taylor, Sarah Buxton, and Sheila Hall, Long Ashton rose to the occasion with consistent play across the rinks. Their teamwork and accuracy secured a convincing win, finishing with a 55–36 scoreline.

The result sparked jubilant celebrations among the players and supporters, as Long Ashton proudly lifted the Fear Plate trophy.

“This was a great team performance,” said club members afterwards. “Everyone played their part, and it’s a fantastic reward for all the hard work this season.”

The win adds to Long Ashton Bowling Club’s growing reputation and highlights the strength of women’s bowls in the area.
